A growing number of industries are adopting lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). In the electric vehicle market, which has drawn considerable attention, Tesla and other automakers are moving ahead with the mass production and adoption of 46 mm cylindrical LIBs. Meanwhile, the rapid expansion of AI has driven a sharp increase in demand for LIBs used in energy storage systems (ESS) to support the power supply required by data centers and other AI infrastructure.
In other small-format LIB applications, Boston Dynamics, owned by Hyundai Motor Group, has unveiled a humanoid robot. This has drawn attention not only to the potential of the humanoid market, alongside drones, but also to the LIB market for batteries used in these robots.

The smartphone LIB market is also beginning to change. Chinese manufacturers have started adopting silicon anode materials, while the wider rollout of foldable smartphones is prompting a shift from one cell per device to two or even three.
